Ida Wikman’s uncanny depiction of Laura in her mud hut.
Haha, thanks for the mention! This made me so happy :)
THE PILOT EPISODE OF THE LAME FACTOR IS OUT!
You will be able to download it via iTunes in a couple days, but we didn’t want you all to wait that long so we decided to post it on Tumblr. Here are the show notes:
- Welcome to THE LAME FACTOR
- We kick off our Pilot episode with updates on all the hosts.
- What the hell is LAME Factor? We kind of have an idea…
- Some Occupy Wall Street. Andrew Occupies Sesame Street.
- The GOP Candidates are fucking crazy
- Is the world really overpopulated?
- Laura puts news stories in for discussion before knowing what the hell they are about.
- We have a new Tumblr (thelamefactor.tumblr.com) and new Twitter account (@LAMEfactor)
I listened to this (the first episode of LAME factor) today and got inspired to draw a picture. I call it “Laura in her mud hut, wondering if the straw roof is gone”.

Albums:
- Bon Iver - Bon Iver
I thought I would listen to this album much, much more than I actually did. I thought this would be “the Summer of Bon Iver”. I have listened to it about ten times, but I haven’t really had the time. I had more important things to listen to (see Ministry of Magic). But I wish I had listened to it more, because the more I play it, the more I love it. - All their albums - Ministry of Magic
This may have not been the Summer of Bon Iver, but it definitely was “the Summer of Harry Potter”. (Although my life is very much Harry Potter-related). Especially the week leading up to the final film. I saw all the movies, listened to all the scores, all the Ministry of Magic albums and some of the Harry and the Potters ones. Just HP all the day. I have a playlist with all the MoM albums and I’ve pretty much played it on repeat. Before the summer I had only heard the “popular” songs, now I know them all. This mentioned playlist also contain a bunch of “Internet”-music and it is called Nerd, Dork and Awesome. I can’t wait to buy all the albums, since it’s just a Spotify list. Right now I have one, but as soon as I start my new job I will probably get more! - Erase This - Alan Lastufka & Luke Conard
I don’t know why I think this is a summery album, I got it in November and listened to it during the winter but still think it is a great summer album. The album is such a perfect mix of awesome songs and I love listening to it from start to end. I can’t choose which song is my favorite. They are all “meant to be together”, but if I had to choose I’d say Shortwave Pt 2. I feel bad that I didn’t pay for it (they gave out a free download on Thanksgiving) because I have listened to it so much (according to my iPod: 1599 times, which is not true since that would be about 66 days worth of listening). I’m going to buy the deluxe edition, but I have to earn some money first! - Sol, Vind och Vatten/Det bästa med Ted Gärdestad - Ted Gärdestad
If there is something that is more Swedish or more Summer I would be surprised. This is just so great and perfect to listen to on a road trip or on the way to the beach. I’m biased because it remind me of my childhood, but I still think it’s awesome. Especially “Himlen är Oskyldigt Blå”. - All We Grow - S. Carey
While I bought the Bon Iver-bundle from JagJaguwar I took the opportunity to order this album too. I’ve listened to it through Spotify a few times, but I wanted the physical CD (and, of course, support the artist). S. Carey is really a unique artist and I love his music. I haven’t heard anything like it, but it’s probably just my lack of music exposure. - Their early albums - Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band
I have never been a Springsteen fan, but since I had the spotify account (which you can stream through your phone if you have premium) I thought I would give it a listen. The result was positive! I very much like their/his sound, it’s pretty chill and relaxed. Perfect to listen to while you’re working.
Singles:
- End of an Era - Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls
This is the most heard song I have (except Perth - Bon Iver which is my alarm clock. I’ve listened to that song 300 times). It very much summarize what I felt during this summer and it just is the perfect song for the summer of ‘11. God it is so good! - Mona Lisa and Mad Hatters - Elton John
In the beginning of the summer I listened to this every single day. I’m just a few decades too late, but I still think it is brilliant. I love it so much both because it’s about New York and because it is in my favorite movie Almost Famous. So it is tied to memories (one of them nonexistent, I’ve never been to NY) - Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.) - Katy Perry
I don’t know why I like this song, but probably because I think it’s an amusing story and because the video is hilarious. Katy Perry is my guilty music pleasure.
